About LinguaRoots

More than a language.
A way home.

LinguaRoots exists to keep African languages alive in the people who carry them — by making learning joyful, culturally honest and easy to fit into a busy day.

Whether you grew up hearing Yorùbá at the dinner table or you're meeting Igbo for the very first time, there's a place for you here.

Why we started

The lesson that was missing

Across the world, African languages are spoken less by each new generation — not because people don't care, but because there hasn't been a modern, respectful way to learn them. Textbooks feel dry, resources are scattered, and culture often gets stripped out of the lesson.

LinguaRoots flips that. We pair short, game-like lessons with the proverbs, phonics and stories that make a language feel alive — built mobile-first for people who have ten minutes, not ten hours.

Yorùbá proverb

“Àgbà kì í wà lọ́jà, kí orí ọmọ tuntun wọ́.”

An elder cannot be at the market and let a newborn's head go crooked.

Where there is experience present, the inexperienced will not be allowed to fail. Community is a safety net.

What we build

Three foundations, one mission

01

Cultural Ecosystem

Language is more than vocabulary. Every lesson carries the proverbs, stories and context that give a culture its voice — so learners don't just speak, they belong.

02

Cultural Database

We're building a living library of words, sounds and meanings designed specifically for African languages, starting with Yorùbá and Igbo and growing from there.

03

Economic Empowerment

Culturally fluent people build stronger businesses and careers. Language skills open doors to communities, clients and opportunities at home and in the diaspora.
